Genetic engineers Clive Nicoli (Adrien Brody) and Elsa Kast (Sarah Polley) work for a pharmaceutical company, splicing DNA from various animals to create new hybrid creatures for medical research.

Against company orders, they secretly incorporate human DNA into one of their experiments, creating a new lifeform they name Dren (played by Delphine Chanéac as an adult). As Dren rapidly matures, she displays incredible intelligence and unique abilities—but also becomes increasingly unpredictable and dangerous.

What starts as a scientific breakthrough quickly turns into a moral and emotional nightmare, as Clive and Elsa struggle with their creation’s human traits, their own ethical boundaries, and a growing tension between creator and creation.
