The story follows two young drifters in Lille, France:

• Isa (Élodie Bouchez) – a free-spirited and optimistic 19-year-old who wanders from place to place with little more than a backpack.

• Marie (Natacha Régnier) – more cynical and guarded, working temporary jobs and yearning for a way out of her bleak life.

The two women meet by chance and form a strong but fragile bond while working in a sewing shop. They share an apartment, support each other, and dream of a better future. However, their friendship becomes strained when Marie begins a destructive relationship with a wealthy nightclub owner, while Isa tries to stay true to her hopeful outlook despite hardship.
