The movie follows the Campbell family, who move to Southington, Connecticut, to be closer to the hospital where their teenage son Matt is being treated for cancer. They rent an old house with a dark history — unbeknownst to them, it used to be a funeral home where necromantic experiments and seances were conducted.

Matt soon begins experiencing visions of ghosts and disturbing phenomena. As his condition worsens, the supernatural activity intensifies. The family eventually uncovers that the previous funeral parlor owner, aided by a boy named Jonah, used the bodies for occult practices, leading to a powerful haunting.
