Identical twin sisters Hallie Parker and Annie James (both played by Lindsay Lohan) meet for the first time at a summer camp. Separated as babies when their parents divorced, one twin was raised in Napa Valley, California (Hallie, with her father Nick), and the other in London (Annie, with her mother Elizabeth).

At camp, the girls start as rivals but soon realize they’re twins. They hatch a plan to switch places so each can meet the parent they’ve never known. While disguised, they also conspire to reunite their parents, but complications arise when Nick becomes engaged to Meredith Blake, a woman who wants him for his fortune.
