A group of young American tourists—Jeff, Amy, Eric, and Stacy—are vacationing in Mexico. They meet a German tourist, Mathias, who invites them to join him on a trip to a remote archaeological dig site where his brother has supposedly gone missing.
They arrive at an ancient Mayan temple deep in the jungle. But soon after they step onto the site, armed local villagers confront them. When one of them steps onto the vine-covered ruins, the villagers suddenly become hostile, killing anyone who tries to leave or approach.
As the group retreats to the top of the temple, they quickly discover that the vines covering the ruins are alive and intelligent. The plants begin to attack them—physically and psychologically—creating hallucinations, paranoia, and gruesome injuries.
Over time, injuries worsen, food and water run out, and the vines invade their bodies. One by one, the group falls victim to the supernatural flora. In a desperate move, Jeff distracts the locals while Amy escapes—though it’s left ambiguous whether she’s truly free or still carrying the deadly infection inside her.
